【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversaprocedureforthedeterminationofbasicconstituentsinpetroleumproductsandnewandusedlubricants.Thistestmethodresolvestheseconstituentsintogroupshavingweak-baseandstrong-baseionizationproperties,providedthedissociationconstantsofthemorestronglybasiccompoundsareatleast1000timesthanthatofthenextweakergroups.Thistestmethodcoversbasenumbersupto250.Innewandusedlubricants,theconstituentsthatcanbeconsideredtohavebasicpropertiesareprimarilyorganicandinorganicbases,includingaminocompounds.Thistestmethoduseshydrochloricacidasthetitrant,whereasTestMethodD2896usesperchloricacidasthetitrant.Thistestmethodmayormaynottitratetheseweakbasesand,ifso,itwilltitratethemtoalesserdegreeofcompletion;someadditivessuchasinhibitorsordetergentsmayshowbasiccharacteristics.Whentestingusedenginelubricants,itshouldberecognizedthatcertainweakbasesaretheresultoftheserviceratherthanhavingbeenbuiltintotheoil.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoindicaterelativechangesthatoccurinoilduringuseunderoxidizingorotherserviceconditionsregardlessofthecolororotherpropertiesoftheresultingoil.Thevaluesobtained,however,areintendedtobecomparedwiththeothervaluesobtainedbythistestmethodonly;basenumbersobtainedbythistestmethodarenotintendedtobeequaltovaluesbyothertestmethods.Althoughtheanalysisismadeundercloselyspecifiedconditions,thistestmethodisnotintendedto,anddoesnot,resultinreportedbasicpropertiesthatcanbeusedunderallserviceconditionstopredictperformanceofanoil;forexample,nooverallrelationshipisknownbetweenbearingcorrosionorthecontrolofcorrosivewearintheengineandbasenumber.ThistestmethodwasdevelopedasanalternativefortheformerbasenumberportionofTestMethodD664(lastpublishedinTestMethodD664-81).1.4.1ColorimetrictestmethodsforbasenumberareTestMethodD974,IP139,and5102.1onacidandbasenumberbyextraction(color-indicatortitration)ofFederalTestMethodStandardNo.791b.Testresultsbythesemethodsmayormaynotbenumericallyequivalenttothistestmethod.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.

【摘要】:Wearduetoexcessivefrictionresultinginshortenedlifeofenginecomponentssuchasfuelpumpsandfuelcontrolshassometimesbeenascribedtolackoflubricityinanaviationfuel.Therelationshipoftestresultstoaviationfuelsystemcomponentdistressduetowearhasbeendemonstratedforsomefuel/hardwarecombinationswhereboundarylubricationisafactorintheoperationofthecomponent.Thewearscargeneratedintheball-on-cylinderlubricityevaluator(BOCLE)testissensitivetocontaminationofthefluidsandtestmaterials,thepresenceofoxygenandwaterintheatmosphere,andthetemperatureofthetest.Lubricitymeasurementsarealsosensitivetotracematerialsacquiredduringsamplingandstorage.ContainersspecifiedinPracticeD4306shallbeused.TheBOCLEtestmethodmaynotdirectlyreflectoperatingconditionsofenginehardware.Forexample,somefuelsthatcontainahighcontentofcertainsulfurcompoundscangiveanomaloustestresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversassessmentofthewearaspectsoftheboundarylubricationpropertiesofaviationturbinefuelsonrubbingsteelsurfaces.1.1.1Thistestmethodincorporatestwoprocedures,oneusingasemi-automatedinstrumentandthesecondafullyautomatedinstrument.Eitherofthetwoinstrumentsmaybeusedtocarryoutthetest.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
